Gary Job Corps gets Gold Star Award

The Gary Job Corps Center was recognized by the National Job Corps Association as the highest Gold Star Recipient of the 125 Job Corps Centers in the United States and Puerto Rico. The Gold Star Award symbolizes the involvement in the Community through community service and keeping the elected officials educated on the service accomplished by the staff, students and community.

During the visit to Washington DC, the Gary Staff visited with the Congressional offices of Congressman Doggett, Canseco, Gonzales, Hinojosa, Paul, and Senator Cornyn. The students had personal face-to-face visits with Congressman Reyes, Cuellar, Gene Green, and Congresswoman Shelia Jackson-lee.

Among the initiatives discussed were the formation of a Texas Job Corps Coalition comprised by the Gary Job Corps, San Marcos, Laredo Job Corps, Laredo, David Carrasco, El Paso, and the North Texas Job Corps, in McKinney, Tx.
