San Marcos Education Fair

Donations Needed for Givaways at the 4th Annual San Marcos Education Fair

SOAR, Seeking Opportunities, Achieving Results, is once again reaching out to San Marcos parents and students with the fourth annual San Marcos Education Fair. This event is designed to help families become more involved in their children's education, and connect them to social service agencies that will ensure success.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 at the San Marcos Conference Center, adjacent to Embassy Suites, on IH 35 & McCarty in San Marcos. Admission is free and open to the public.

There will be 30-minute workshops and a Celebrity Reading Corner with local celebrities, including, Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Texas State University Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione, Captain Live United, City Council Member Kim Porterfield, San Marcos Police Chief Howard Williams and a few other special guest readers. Find out more about the workshops and the Celebrity Reading corner here.

The San Marcos Education Fair will provide information on early childhood development; elementary, middle, and high schools in the area; college admission information and adult and continuing education opportunities. Last year there were over 65 booths and 3 activity stations where attendees could learn about the importance of educational attainment. If you are interested in reserving a booth for the fair, please download the Education Fair Booth form for more information.

All attendees of the Fair that visit a minimum of six booths can enter a drawing to win great door prizes including gift cards, bicycles, and brand new laptop computers. Donations are currently being solicited from area businesses for the door prize giveaways. For information on how your business can support the message that “Education Pays” by providing door prizes or volunteer support for the event, please contact the Chamber SOAR Liaison, Margaret Lindsey at (512) 393-5910, or download and print the Donation Form.

What can you donate?
Donations such as I-pods, gift certificates, bikes, helmets, etc. will be greatly appreciated! We are requesting items that can appeal to all ages, from young children through teens.
