Member Pages
Having a Member web page is one of the many valuable member benefits you receive as a San Marcos Chamber of Commerce Member. This is an important web presence for your company! The additional online presence and incoming links you provide from your member page to your company website can help improve your search engine ranking on your own website.
Members can login to update their member page under the following guidelines.
- 1 page of text content with links to your company website pages
- 1 logo & one graphic or image file. Files accepted: jpeg, gif, - file size 250K
Note: All artwork must be in jpeg or gif formats.
You also have the ability to add your company's events to the Chamber's website calendar
If you have not received an email with your Username and password, and this is the first time you are logging in to your account, follow these simple steps to create your password.
When you login you will see a place to click on "My Dashboard" on the left vertical navigation menu. Scroll down the page and under the header "Your Contacts/Organizations you will see two links: Basic Info and "Extended Info".
"Basic info" is where you would enter the information for the search engines.
"Extended Info" is where you would enter information that visitors would see on your page and a Member-to-Member offering you are providing to members.
Basic Info:
This is where you will see your contact information, categories you are listed in with the Chamber and several text boxes you can input keywords into that will help search engines find you; "Meta Title", "Keywords" and "Meta Description".
Meta Title: This is list of keywords visitors would type in the search engines query to find your company's products and/services on the internet. Search engines will read only the first 60 characters here (not words) – spaces and commas are considered characters. You want the most important words here. Don't forget "regional" keywords, areas you are marketing to.
Example: Welcome to San Marcos, Texas, from the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce
Keywords: include primary keywords at the beginning of the list, and separate all ketwords with commas .
Example: San Marcos, Texas, Chamber of Commerce, restaurants, lodging, hotels, shopping, networking, luncheon, Business After-Hours, mixer
Meta Description: A short description for search engine indexing. Make sure your important keywords are in this description. Search engines will read only the first 150 characters here (not words) – spaces and commas are considered characters.
Example: The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce is a leading membership organization that collaborates with stakeholders to develop an environment where businesses thrive, leadership is encouraged, students excel, housing is ample and attainable, all members are active and quality of life is a priority.
Extended Info:
This is the area where you will go to put in your logo and pictures, content, links, etc... When you create your text content make sure it has a lot have a lot of keywords packed in there. You can view more information on how to put up your page content here: San Marcos Chamber Member's Manual
