San Marcos Ranks in “Best Places to Raise Your Kids” in the United States

BusinessWeek today released their annual ranking of the best places to raise your kids in the United States, and not only did San Marcos make the cut, but according to Yahoo! Real Estate, San Marcos made the Top 10! BusinessWeek partnered with OnBoard Informatics, a New York-based provider of real estate analysis, in order to conduct their analysis of the 50 states. In order for a town to be included, they had to have at least 45,000 residents and a median income of between $40,000 and $125,000. Read more

San Marcos Designated as a "Texas Treasures Community"

The communities of Nacogdoches, San Marcos and Waxahachie were named the second annual recipients of the First Lady’s Texas Treasures Award during a special presentation given on February 16, 2010 by First Lady Anita Perry at the Texas Travel Industry Association’s Unity Dinner. The award, sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and the Office of the First Lady, recognizes communities that showcase a passionate commitment to community preservation efforts through their participation in THC programs.
