- Explore funding options for a Chamber staff position to work on the mentoring program (focusing on education and the wrokforce).

Government Affairs Committee

Mission Statement
The mission of the Government Affairs Committee of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce is to review pending and existing legislation and regulations for their impact on business and develop positions that promote the overall best interests of our members. The committee develops programs that inform and encourage members to participate in the Chamber's government affairs initiatives.
- Host periodic forums allowing members to hear and impact issues of direct interest.
- Review and recommend appropriate action on local and statewide business issues.
- Increase Chamber members’ representation on local government committees and councils.
- Investigate government affairs issues on behalf of the board.
- Be proactive in traffic issues, including new traffic arteries, and synchronizing of traffic lights.

Mission Statement
To improve the Chamber technology through new technology.
Provide and support educational resources for the Chamber, its committees and members.
- Continue to improve and expand the services of the evolving Chamber website.
- Assist members with specific technical needs and questions.
- Promote enhancements on member listings through committee training, flyers, and testimonials.
- Search for ways for the Chamber to improve information dissemination, and generate revenue for the Chamber.
- Assist the Expo Committee in producing and maintaining the Expo website.

Natural Resources Committee

Board Representative:
- Increase public education efforts regarding natural resource conservation, environmental awareness and cost containment.
- Provide a public forum for discussion of natural resource issues of concern to the community and chamber members.
- Support the development of responsible public policies through local ordinances and state regulations.
- Continue vigilant participation in stewardship of the San Marcos River, and the management of the Edwards Aquifer.

- Coordinate San Marcos Athletic Nights and other select events .
- Organize Annual Dinner & Casino Night.
- Plan and implement the annual awards banquet as both a major fund-raiser and an entertaining event.
- Increase profitability of special events, and consider new events to contribute to non-dues income.
